Hubbard Systems introduces new Scotsman hydrocarbon models
Hydrocarbons are well known for their low environmental impact and have been used in small capacity and reduced refrigerant-charge systems with great success. With the development of more efficient compressors this greener refrigerant is now available for bigger ice machines.
Hubbard Systems launches Scotsman superflaker with hydrocarbon refrigerant
Flake ice is used extensively in a variety of sectors, from food processing to fisheries to pharmaceuticals, not only to refrigerate products but also to protect perishables. With pressure growing to reduce industry’s impact on the environment, Hubbard Systems has launched the Scotsman MF 57, a modular flake ice machine that runs on an eco-friendly hydrocarbon refrigerant, R290.
Hubbard Systems relocates to a new site in Great Blackenham
Hubbard Systems, the UK distributor of Scotsman ice machines, has moved from its original location in Otley, Suffolk, to the nearby Claydon Business Park, Great Blackenham. The new building is situated five miles north of Ipswich, only a mile from the A14, giving fast access to major trunk routes.
Hubbard Systems latest brochure simplifies choosing an ice machine
Supercube, flake, superflake, dice, scale, cubelet or nugget? With so many different types of ice it’s important to find the right one to suit the application. Hubbard Systems has launched a brochure to help venues get the right ice machine and ice type for their requirements.
The “What’s your ice type?” brochure explores the different varieties and shapes of ice and the application they are best suited to – so that operators get the best out of their ice. To make things even easier, Hubbard matches the ice type with the appropriate Scotsman machine.
For example, drinks such as G&T and Scotch on the rocks, need good-looking, crystal clear ice with a slow melt rate so that the drink isn’t diluted. For this the brochure shows that gourmet Supercubes fit the bill.
But hard, Supercube ice is murder on blenders, so for blended cocktails or food displays a different type of ice is required.
Choosing the machine is just the beginning. It is important to consider where it will go and what services it will need – from plumbing to water and waste, to regular maintenance, servicing and cleaning, and even choosing the right capacity ice storage bin for modular machines. The brochure highlights all this and more, providing a full, in-depth guide to choosing the right ice machine.
The brochure is available on request from Hubbard Systems and is available to download from the Hubbard website.

Hubbard Systems has launched ice makers that it claims are the smartest yet when it comes to sustainability. The Scotsman Prodigy-MV machines offer a sustainable and reliable way to create fresh, attractive ice.
Scotsman Prodigy-MV machines are self-monitoring modular ice makers. The front-located AutoAlert indicator lights make upkeep practically foolproof by constantly communicating information about the machine’s operating status, using easy-to-understand universal symbols. It signals when it’s time to perform routine maintenance or to call for service – before it is an emergency.
