Scotsman’s new hotel guest self-serve ice machine is user-friendly, hygienic and quiet
Making sure guests have a ready supply of ice is increasingly important in today’s hotels. Usually the self-serve unit will be placed in lobbies, lounges or hotel bedroom corridors, and usually most of the ice will be taken at night. So apart from ensuring that the ice itself is top quality, hotel owners are looking for machines that are easy to use, as hygienic as possible and operate quietly – to minimise disruption for other guests.
Scotsman superdice: great looking ice that’s gentler on the blender
Creamy Iced Coffee
Superdice is a new ice cube that combines the benefits of the classic gourmet or thimble supercube with those of a standard dice cube. It’s crystal clear and longer lasting, so it looks great for presentation in classic iced coffees. However, it’s also a softer ice cube, so it’s ideal for blended drinks, such as café frappé, since the softer cube is gentler on blender blades. Its versatility makes it a truly all-round cube for coffee shops and any sites offering a full coffee menu.
When presentation is vital, supercubes look the part
Catering is incredibly busy at the South Bank’s newest landmark hotel, Mondrian London at Sea Containers. Hubbard produces the Hotel Ice Guide
Hotels use lots of different types of ice for various applications – in the bar, the restaurant, the kitchen, and for room service. Selecting the right ice types for an individual venue, and the right machines, is an important decision. Now Hubbard Systems, the company distributing the market-leading Scotsman range of ice machines, has produced the Hotel Ice Guide. It shows which types of ice are best for which application – gourmet supercube, dice, superdice, flake, nugget and so on.
The Guide is available free from the downloads page at scotsman-ice.co.uk. Alternatively, printed copies are available on request from Hubbard Systems.
Fishmonger’s Scotsman icemaker is in constant demand
The counters at Ron Fowler & Son provide customers with a stunning display of fresh fish, game and poultry. Not surprisingly, this family-run fresh-fish shop in Bookham, near Dorking, is very popular with customers, some of whom have given Ron and his son, Mark, signed photographs – including top chefs Gordon Ramsey and Michael Caine.
Quality ice is vital for the business. To keep up with demand the Fowlers have replaced their old Scotsman ice machine with another Scotsman, an AF 206 capable of producing around 200kg of ice per day. The Scotsman range is distributed in the UK by Hubbard Systems.
Scotsman Prodigy undercounter icemakers: dice ice at its best, all the time
Competition is tough in the pub, bar and nightclub circuit with venues striving for new ways to attract customers. Service has to be fast, drinks have to perfect – there’s no room for errors. The back bar area needs to look clean and stylish while at the same time being a functional and pleasant place to work.
With today’s move towards cocktails, both conventional and exotic, and emphasis on finding exciting twists for presenting non-alcoholic drinks, bar managers are finding that they increasingly need a steady supply of high quality ice. Scotsman integral Prodigy icemakers, available in the UK from Hubbard Systems, are designed to keep busy bars stocked up with ice without creating any extra work for staff.
Scotsman MC46-Split is smaller, quieter and more flexible
The Scotsman MC46-Split from Hubbard Systems offers big ice production in a small footprint, by taking the compressor & condenser away from the ice-making unit. The compact size makes it ideal for places where space is at a premium. Meanwhile, separating the refrigeration system keeps noise and waste heat away from the kitchen or bar area. Its modular design means additional units can easily be linked together if greater production capacity is required.
Building on an established reputation for offering excellent customer support, Hubbard Systems has appointed George Fell as a new Business Development Manager for Northern England and Scotland. Hubbard Systems distributes the Scotsman range of ice makers, including the new intelligent Scotsman Prodigy machines, which offer a sustainable and reliable way to create fresh, attractive ice.
Iconic boutique hotel installs a Scotsman in the cellar
The Hoste is one of Norfolk’s most iconic boutique hotels, lying in the heart of the Royal Coast. It has a great reputation, both with travellers and locals, for individual style and excellent service. Six out of ten people who stay at the hotel become regular guests. With 62 bedrooms, three restaurant areas, two bars and a walled garden for functions, as well as an outside drinking area, the hotel can be serving as many as 520 customers at any one time. And that calls for a lot of ice!
New Ice Tower 56 capable of producing ice non-stop all day
With the demand for ice increasing across the catering and hospitality industries, and trends like self-dispensing “bottomless drinks” sweeping the fast food and family dining sectors, operators are looking for reliable and economical sources of large amounts of ice. However, as pressure on space continues, they also need ice machines that are as compact as possible.
To help meet this demand, Hubbard Systems has launched the Scotsman Ice Tower 56, which is capable of producing 485kg of high-quality nugget ice in a 24 hour period. What’s more, the machine is an undercounter unit, measuring just 539mm(w) X 664mm(d) X 720mm(h), with a counter top dispenser.
