Scotsman Debut New Flexible PWD Self-Contained Ice Flaker at Hotelympia 2012
Scotsman Ice Systems, the world industry leader in ice production, storage and distribution systems will be debuting one of the most flexible ice flaking solutions the UK hospitality sector has ever been offered at Hotelympia 2012.
Launched in Europe at Host 2011, Scotsman, distributed by Hubbard Ice Systems in the UK, will be showing its new EF range of self-contained ice flakers. The new machines are a development of its AF range of flaked ice-makers, and for the first time features the famous ‘easy-fit’ Progressive Water Discharge (PWD) system, which is unique to Scotsman machines. PWD offers the highest levels of flexibility for users of flaked ice, allowing the machine to be sited up to 15 metres distant from water and waste services and up to 1.7 metres lower than an existing drain outlet. The system does away with the need for expensive plumbing and building alterations and has important hygiene implications, ensuring that ice production is kept away from algae or microbes that can be found in drain outlets.
PWD is already highly popular with the hospitality sector having been introduced in 2006 as a key feature of Scotsman’s highly successful launch of its flagship Six Series range of self contained ice cubers. Now the Six series is one of the world’s best-selling ice cubers, and customer research shows that PWD is one of the main decision makers in choosing a high-performance ice maker.

The New AF range of ice flakers is available in four sizes with optional PWD (denoted as EF - ‘Easy-fit Flaker’) on all models, featuring integral insulated storage bins for ‘stand-alone’ under counter installation.
