Scotsman Sponsors 2011 CEV European Women's Volleyball Championships
Scotsman Ice Systems, the world industry leader in ice production, storage and distribution systems, announces its sponsorship of the 2011 CEV European Women Volleyball Championships.
A total of 16 countries will be participating in the final rounds of the CEV Women’s Volleyball European Championship, which will be held in Italy (Monza and Busto Arsizio, both in the Milan Area) and Serbia (Beograd and Zrenjanin) from September 23rd to October, 2nd, 2011.
Scotsman, distributed by Hubbard Ice Systems in the UK, will be supplying the flake ice (granular ice) machines to be installed in the locker rooms of the various participant teams for the duration of the Championships. The second consecutive year that Scotsman has sponsored an International Volleyball Championship (after 2010’s Men’s World Championship).
The sponsorship confirms Scotsman’s position as a leader in the supply of ice making machines for medical and therapeutic use for professional and amateur sports and especially volleyball. “This is the perfect opportunity to raise the awareness of the beneficial effects of ice in restoring muscular condition and reducing the swelling effects of minor injuries in the athletes of all sports” said Chris Davis, Commercial Director of Hubbard Ice Systems.
The partnership between Scotsman Ice Systems and Volleyball will continue after the Championship with the supply of ice machines for the new FIPAV Head Quarters in Milan, Italy, a state-of-the-art complex featuring a 1,000 seat volleyball stadium, as well as tennis courts and a soccer pitch. The same complex includes bar and canteen facilities for the athletes with a capacity up to 70 guests.
Scotsman ice machines can be found in many of the UK’s top sporting venues, including West Ham United’s “Academy of Football”, The world-class UK Athletics (UKA) Centre at Brunel University and The O2 Arena.
Ice application is favoured by Physiotherapists and sports injury specialists and is regarded as essential in many first aid treatments, delivering numerous beneficial effects, including:
Traumas, sprained muscles, tendonitis, fractures.
Pain relief (cold stimulates the production and release of endorphins and raises the threshold of pain).
Vessel-constriction (effect on the receptors of the terminal arteries. When ice is applied during the acute phase, it reduces inflammation and prevents the development of haematomas).
Soothing of muscle spasm.
Temperature reduction (both at a cutaneous and muscular level, with effects starting one minute after the application).
Scotsman Ice Systems machines deliver various types of granular ice forms, from Flake, to Superflake, Nugget and Cubelet, all with different heat exchanging performance.
