New Scottish Parliament building is using - well, what other type of ice COULD it use?
Being an MSP - or one of the hundreds of staff who work in the new Scottish Parliament building in Edinburgh - is serious business. But there are times when staff, visitors and members of the parliament want to take a break and relax in one of the bar areas or restaurants.
Whether it's a cooling soft drink or a dram of Scotland's most famous tipple, the ice that will now go into the drinks is as much a design classic as the Scottish Parliament building itself. And the ice is supplied, appropriately, by a Scotsman, because the Scottish Parliament has a Scotsman EC85 ice machine supplied from Hubbard Ice Systems.
The EC85 produces the famous Scotsman Supercubes: long-lasting cubes of ice that enhance the appearance of drinks and chill more efficiently, because of their purity. The ice cubes are crystal clear and a unique thimble shape that looks distinctive and quickly chills any drink because of the extra surface area compared to ordinary ice cubes.
Mechanical design features on the EC85 include a waste water pump. Unlike other ice machines, which rely on gravity fall to take away waste water, the EC85's pump means that it can be sited more or less anywhere and doesn't even need to be on legs. This means it can be easily fitted under counters in back bars, restaurants and kitchens.
This versatility makes the EC design Hubbard's leading Scotsman range - and the ideal ice machine for Scottish leaders!
